2 August 2016

And astonishment is thinking. The middle-aged dwarf at DMV pushed a walker, two cut tennis balls at the base of its back legs. Reaching for his wallet, he leaned his forehead against the counter. A little boy moved to stand beside him, holding onto the walker, gazing up. He seemed not to notice. Grandfather pulled the boy away, toward the other cashier's counter space. As the dwarf walked away, I saw his right leg swing inward, hitting his left with every step. At the door he held the walker with one hand and pushed the door open with the other.
